Math: Today we will be measuring objects using centimeters and meters.
1. Get out your volume 2 math workbook and turn to page 685-. You will need your ruler. Be sure to use the centimeter side. Also, if you have yarn, have Mom or Dad help you measure out 100 centimeters and cut the yarn there. This is one meter. In America, we measure in inches, feet and yards. Most everywhere else uses centimeters, meters and kilometers (the metric system) You will need it to measure some objects. (Notice 1 meter is close to 1 yard. A meter is a little longer than a yard. (it is around 39 inches)So, if you don’t have yarn, you could use a yardstick or measuring tape if you have one.)
Be sure to estimate, or make a guess, before you measure. Also, make sure you use the correct units of measurement for each object. The book jumps from using centimeter to meters.
Do page 685 and the My Homework 689-690
2. Get out your "My Weather Log" and turn to the second page. Get the weather for Smithville and fill out the top section of this page. Color in the thermometer, draw a picture for the weather, and describe the weather in words. Be sure to include the temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and any possible rain or snow.
3. Just like yesterday, turn to the back side of the first page where it says "Degrees Fahrenheit." Then click on the weather for both Smithville and Orlando, Florida and color in the column up to the current temperature. Do this above the #2 section at the bottom. (Look at the example from Monday assignments if you are not sure what to do. )

Tuesday, March 31, 2020
Happy Tuesday! Today is the last day of March. There is an old weather saying that if March comes in like a lamb it will go out like a lion. Lambs are gentle, so the weather would be nice and gentle. A lion is strong and that means the weather may be windy, cold and not as nice. I think that old saying rings true this time! I loved hearing all the old saying about weather. My grandpa had many. One I remember is if there are spiderwebs on the grass in the morning it would not rain that day. Another one was, if it rained on Easter Sunday, it would rain the next seven Sundays. Have you heard any of these old weather sayings? I would love to hear them. I posted a video about some of the Weather folklore under my video tab. Check it out!
I really enjoyed hearing all about your weekend on the blog! Thank you! I do make comments back to you, so feel free to go back to check out my comments too if you would like.

Tuesday, March 24, 2020- Good morning! I loved reading everyone's comments on the signs of spring. As I was reading them, I thought, "Hey, I saw that too!" If you haven't made a comment yet, please do, I would love to hear from you! I was surprised to see how much the eaglets have grown. It has been a week since I checked in on them and boy did they grow. When we watch them at home, Gabe usually has some questions about them, such as "How big is their nest?" "Which one is the mother eagle?" I bet you have questions too. Keep asking those questions when you observe nature, but also when you read! That is what good readers do! Remember how we asked questions during our read alouds? Yesterday, I taped myself reading a book, but it is too big of a file to download. So, I am going to try again today.
Today, we will be learning more about weather. We will also review telling time. I hope we can get outside today. Getting outside and getting some fresh air can make you feel better! I hope you have a good day! I miss you all!

I accidentally left off going to my Google Classroom yesterday for Science- so, check out that addition today!
